35 teams from 14 different schools and 350 players competed in the Liv. Dubai Schools Games Netball Championships, which began on March 6 and ran until March 9, 2023. This was the second tournament of the season for the championship.
The Netball Championship's venue partner, GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis, served as the home of the four-day event. Together with the Liv. Dubai Schools Games team, our partners Liv, Mai Dubai, Go Sport, Aster Hospitals and Clinics, and our technical partner, Pro Physique Sports Services, allowed them to share their extensive experience of the sport.
The enthralling Netball championships, especially those that will include a winner-takes-all golden goal scenario, get underway with the U12 tournaments. The top scorer in GEMS Wellington International School, Fatimah Saleh, defeated Safa Community School, who finished in second place. Kings School Nad Al Sheba took third place in a closely contested battle. In a competition between these three institutions, GEMS Wellington International School won.
The energy among the players and coaches is still buzzing as the U13 matches begin on the second day. Sanachi Okpala, Nord Anglia International School’s best scorer, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player as the day came to an end as Kent College defeated Nord Anglia International School in the U13 category championship. Home team GEMS Wellington Academy, Silicon Oasis earned the third slot to round up the day's winners.
The U14 games have started, making today the third day of the netball championships series, and there are now twice as many games. There were numerous golden goal opportunities, and when the games were over, Nord Anglia International School won the championship. Safa Community School took third place, while GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis finished in second place after a very close match that also featured a golden goal. Cayan Abdellatif of Nord Anglia International School was named Most Valuable Player of the Match.
The U16 matches on the final day of the Netball championships were played with the same competitive spirit, and as the matches came to a close, Kent College Team-A, led by the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament Veve Rice, won the top position, while GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis Team-A, who had played the U16 age group champions, finished in second place. By winning the game, GEMS Wellington International School earned third place overall.
