Basketball Championships Soared High This Season

What a thrilling stretch of basketball games throughout the 22–23 season! The event was hosted at Dubai Sports World, the official venue partner of the Liv. Dubai Schools Games, which provided an excellent setting and the ideal atmosphere.

ESM is in charge of organising the Liv. Dubai Schools Games. With the assistance of our technical partners, Beyond Basketball, the basketball championship ranks fourth on our calendar of events in Term 3. They made sure that all games were conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations. 

Along with our sponsors and partners Liv, Mai Dubai, Go Sport, Aster Hospitals and Clinics, we once again collaborated with NBXL  as our prize partner. Together, we made this event historic. The 4-day event this season is a complete success compared to last year's turnout of 48 registered schools with 384 students, with this year's numbers that peaked schools’ interest with 48 registered schools and an impressive count of 576 students across two age groups U13 (Boys & Girls) and U15 (Boys & Girls).

U13 Boys

Star International School finished in third position with a slim point advantage and a favorable result. The next match is the fight for second and first place between Kings School Al Barsha and GEMS Winchester School Dubai. Kings School Al Barsha claimed the championship and the title with a clean sweep and a large margin of victory to win the game. 

Muhammed Choudhury received the Most Valuable Player title for his exceptional performance, which included a triple-double game.

U13 Girls

Kings School Al Barsha takes third place for the U13 girls after a close match in their favour. 

The second match was a close race to the finish between GEMS Wellington International School and GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis. The first and third quarters were won by GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis and the second and fourth quarters were won by GEMS Wellington International School with a very close fight and a lead of only 2 points that led them to the championship. 

Annika Rajanala, who contributed more points through assists and rebounds, was the team's best player of the contest.

U15 Girls

As the games progress to older age groups, the tempo and level of competition pick up. This once-dominantly male sport is now slowly attracting the interest of female athletes, who are rising to the challenge, as we saw during the U15 Girls' Basketball Championships.

The school that finished the game with a far larger lead over their opponent, Star International Mirdif School, took third place with a very wide margin.

The Kings School- Al Barsha and GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis competed head-to-head for the championship. It was an extremely close match that the Kings School- Al Barsha ultimately won by a 2-point margin after making a penalty shot. GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis finished in second place. 

Rayanna Issa, who contributed more points and assists, was the game's top player.

U15 Boys

The Basketball Championships' series of games' most anticipated matches, as expected The game's atmosphere was more competitive in character, with lots of activity and speed and a lot of scoring. 

GEMS Wellington International School, which led from the beginning to the fourth quarter and finished with a sizable margin to secure third place, took the lead throughout the entire game.

The matchup between GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis and GEMS Modern Academy was decisive, with GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis dominating the entire game with a 25-point advantage. However, at the halfway point of the game, the two schools were tied. At that point, GEMS Wellington Academy Silicon Oasis started to make shots from beyond the arc and several steals gave them a 25-point lead and allowed them to pull away to win the game.
