A Netball Tale: The 2025 Midea Dubai Schools Games

As the sun rose over Dubai on the morning of November 3rd, 2025, the iconic Sevens Stadium buzzed with anticipation. The air was thick with excitement, the kind that only comes when hundreds of young athletes gather to chase glory, friendship, and the thrill of competition. It was the start of the Midea Dubai Schools Games Netball Championship, a four-day celebration of sport, spirit, and school pride.

This year’s championship was unlike any before. With 58 teams from 21 schools and 580 students registered, the tournament had grown not just in size but in stature. Compared to last year’s 48 teams and 480 students, the 2025 edition was a clear sign that netball was thriving in Dubai’s school communities. Even more impressive, 530 students showed up, ready to give their all on the court.

The tournament was once again powered by the expert hands of Pro Physique, ensuring every whistle, pass, and pivot happened in a professionally run environment. And behind the scenes, a family of sponsors: Midea, Al Marai, Al Nabooda/Volkswagen, Al Ain Water, and the newest addition, Careem, helped bring the event to life. Organised by ESM, the championship had all the makings of a world-class youth sporting event.

As the matches unfolded across the age categories: U9, U11, U13, and U16, the courts became stages for drama, determination, and dazzling displays of talent.

In the U9 division, GEMS Jumeirah Primary School rose to the top, their teamwork and precision earning them the gold. Sunmarke School followed closely behind, while Jebel Ali School secured third. But it was Sophia K. from Jebel Ali who stole the spotlight, her agility and court vision earning her the MVP title.

The U11s brought their own brand of intensity. Arcadia School, with its sharp passes and unbreakable defence, claimed first place. Dubai English Speaking School and GEMS Jumeirah Primary School rounded out the podium. Aida D. from GEMS JPS dazzled spectators with her leadership and finesse, earning her the MVP award.

The U13 girls’ matches were a masterclass in strategy and stamina. Arcadia School once again proved their mettle, clinching the top spot. Jumeirah College and Jebel Ali School followed, but it was Morgan Bfrom Arcadia who left a lasting impression, her performance earning her the MVP crown.

Then came the U16 girls, the final and fiercest category. Jumeirah College emerged victorious, their players showing maturity and grit beyond their years. Jebel Ali School and Deira International School fought valiantly for second and third, respectively. Bella B. from GEMS Wellington Academy – Silicon Oasis was named MVP, her composure and skill under pressure setting her apart.

As the final whistle blew on November 6th, the stadium echoed with cheers, laughter, and the unmistakable sound of sneakers on court. Medals were awarded, photos snapped, and memories made. But beyond the trophies and titles, what lingered was the spirit of the Games—a spirit of unity, growth, and joy.

Compared to the 2024 edition, which saw 22 schools and 48 teams compete at GEMS Wellington Academy, this year’s tournament had grown in every meaningful way. More teams, more students, a grander venue, and a deeper sense of community. The addition of Careem as a sponsor symbolised the expanding support for youth sports in the region.

The Midea Dubai Schools Games Netball Championship 2025 wasn’t just a tournament; it was a story of ambition, resilience, and the boundless energy of young athletes. And as the sun set on the final day, one thing was certain: the future of netball in Dubai has never looked brighter.
