Dubai, UAE – 16 May 2026
A new chapter in the Dubai Schools Games journey was written on 16 May 2026 as young judokas from across the emirate gathered for the inaugural Midea Dubai Schools Games Judo Championship at GEMS School of Research and Innovation.
For the first time in Dubai Schools Games history, Judo took centre stage, welcoming aspiring athletes eager to test their skills, demonstrate discipline, and embrace the values that define one of the world's most respected martial arts. The event brought together 72 student-athletes from 11 schools, creating an atmosphere filled with determination, sportsmanship, and mutual respect.
From the opening bow to the final contest, competitors showcased not only their technical abilities but also the character and resilience that lie at the heart of Judo. Families, teachers, and teammates watched proudly as students stepped onto the tatami, many experiencing the excitement of competitive Judo within the Dubai Schools Games framework for the very first time.
The championship was delivered in partnership with Tao Jiu Jitsu Academy, whose technical expertise ensured a professionally managed competition that reflected international standards while creating a positive and educational experience for every participant.
As the newest addition to the Dubai Schools Games sporting calendar, the event highlighted the continued growth of school sport in Dubai and the commitment to providing students with opportunities to explore a diverse range of disciplines. The successful launch of the championship demonstrated the strong appetite for combat sports among schools and set a promising foundation for future editions.
