Midea Dubai Schools Games Jiu Jitsu Championship Debuts with a Showcase of Skill, Discipline, and Determination

Dubai, UAE – 16 May 2026

The mats were set, the competitors were focused, and history was ready to be made.

On 16 May 2026, the Midea Dubai Schools Games Jiu Jitsu Championship made its highly anticipated debut at GEMS School of Research and Innovation, marking the first-ever Jiu Jitsu event to be included in the Dubai Schools Games calendar. Bringing together 44 student-athletes from 18 schools, the championship celebrated the rapid growth of one of the UAE’s most respected and widely practiced sports.

From the opening matches, the atmosphere inside the venue reflected the core values of Jiu Jitsu—respect, discipline, resilience, and strategic thinking. Students stepped onto the competition mats carrying months of preparation and training, eager to represent their schools and test their abilities against fellow young athletes from across Dubai.

Delivered in partnership with Palm Sports, the championship provided a professional platform for students to experience high-level competition while developing confidence and sportsmanship. Every bout showcased not only technical skill but also the maturity and composure that define the sport.

Among the standout performances of the day were athletes from GEMS Metropole School, who demonstrated exceptional strength across several divisions. In the White Belt U18 Boys 69kg category, Abdullah A secured first place, followed by Loai I in second and Simon G in third, completing a clean sweep for the school.

The success continued in the Blue Belt U18 Boys 85kg division, where Mohamed T earned the championship title ahead of teammate Aser M. In another impressive display, Mikey R claimed first place in the Blue Belt U18 Boys 73kg category, with fellow GEMS Metropole students Adeel R and Alikhan R taking second and third respectively.

The championship also highlighted talent from across Dubai’s school community. In the White Belt U16 Boys 73kg division, Evsei I from GEMS International School – Al Khail secured the gold medal after a strong performance, while Zion S from Al Diyafah High School earned a well-deserved silver medal.

As competitors celebrated their achievements and reflected on their performances, the significance of the day extended beyond the medal standings. The inaugural championship represented an important milestone for the Dubai Schools Games, expanding opportunities for students to engage in martial arts and experience the benefits of competitive sport.
